Nine Favorite Things | halfbakedharvest.com

From Austin straight to Miamiโ€ฆ and somehow, life looks completely different than it did just a couple of months ago.

After Italy, I headed to Austin, where I spent the past month working nonstop on a project Iโ€™m so excited to share (more on that soon!). The plan after that was simpleโ€”just one week in Miami over Easter with my family.

But as it turns out, one week has turned into something much longer.

Weโ€™ve decided to stay in Miami for the spring and summer. We rented a home with a separate guest houseโ€”the house for the family, and the guest house for meโ€”and weโ€™re settling into this new, very unexpected chapter.

I truly never would have predicted this, even a month ago. But when I thought about heading back to the cold mountain town for spring and summer, I realized I needed something different. A change of environment, a little more warmth, a reset of sorts.

It also happens to be perfect timing, since our home in Colorado is currently a full construction zone while we renovate. I needed somewhere else to land anywayโ€ฆ so why not somewhere sunny?

So, surpriseโ€”Miami Beach for now, and then a good amount of travel this fall.

Itโ€™s exciting, but also overwhelming, chaotic, and if Iโ€™m being honest, a little scary too.

Iโ€™ve lived with anxiety for as long as I can remember. As a kid, it showed up around school and being away from my mom. Over the years, itโ€™s just been something Iโ€™ve learned to manage. Iโ€™ve found tools that help, but itโ€™s still something I work through daily. If you know, you knowโ€”it doesnโ€™t just disappear.

So with all this unpredictability, itโ€™s definitely been a challenge. But I also know I wasnโ€™t feeling my best at home in the cold, and this changeโ€”while hardโ€”is something I needed.

Because everything has been so last-minute, getting settled hasnโ€™t been easy. Weโ€™re building out the kitchen from scratch so I can keep creating recipes, but itโ€™s taking time. And honestly, thatโ€™s been the hardest part.

For the last 13+ years, what my mom and I have been building has meant showing up consistently, sharing recipes daily, and connecting with all of you. And lately, thatโ€™s looked a little different. Itโ€™s something Iโ€™ve stressed over more than I can explain, and I truly want to say thank you for your patience and kindness.

We do have recipes coming, and weโ€™re getting there. It just might take a couple of weeks to find our rhythm again.

This season has been a lotโ€”finishing up a big two-year project while navigating all of this changeโ€”but Iโ€™m doing my best to lean into it. To trust that growth comes from the uncomfortable moments, even when they feel messy.

Change is hard, but it also opens the door to something new, something better, something more aligned.

And right now, thatโ€™s what Iโ€™m choosing to focus on.

Iโ€™m really excited to share more from this time in Miami, along with everything thatโ€™s ahead this year. It means a lot to be able to show up here and share honestly with youโ€”it truly does feel like catching up with friends.

I hope wherever you are, you have something youโ€™re excited about tooโ€”something that challenges you, pushes you, and brings you joy.

Now onto a few favorites for the week. Happy Sunday!

    1. Hey Molly,
Sure, if I really wanted to:) But getting out of town for the spring/summer sounded really nice and I am so excited to be spending my time in Miami.

Hope you have a great week!

  1. Ohhhh cool!! I hope you can take some time to really enjoy Miami! No, not some โ€“ LOTS of time lol

I freaking love that on track fleece lined pullover, especially in summer melon blue indigo! Need it!

I will be making the chicken and egg sausage sandwiches not this week but next. I had already planned on making breakfast turkey sausage eggrolls today for the week, and I used your spice mixture for the turkey sausage and it was perfect! So, we are really looking forward to those sandwiches!

    1. Hey Heather,
Lol thanks so much! I am excited to be in Miami and to do some exploring.

      Isnโ€™t the pullover super cute?!

I hope you love the breakfast sandwiches! Thanks for making them.

      Have a great week ahead!

  2. Iโ€™m so sorry to hear your anxiety is still so hard, especially when being away from your mom. ๐Ÿ™ how nice that theyโ€™re able to be with you in FL for months so you arenโ€™t alone! You have great parents!!

  3. Enjoy the warm weather! I love the idea of renting a home in a new place for a few months, the change of scenery is always exciting!

    1. Hey Lynn,
Thanks so much! Iโ€™m already enjoying the warmth:) It should be a nice change for a little while.

Thanks for reading today and have a great week!

  4. I think this new environment will do you good!
I always like to see what you link here. However, you will not need fleeces, jeans, or jackets in Miami. Itโ€™s going to be very hot and very humid.
Please share the outfits youโ€™re actually wearing in Miami.

  5. Just wondering why did your parents and siblings also move to Miami? Is there a remodel going on of their home too? Or did you just not want to be alone in Florida?

    1. Hey Jordy,
Thanks for asking! Itโ€™s actually been something that they have been wanting to do. They really enjoy Miami and it was their choice to move. They wanted to spend time elsewhere during the spring and summer.

      Enjoy your week!
